Mature eye care

As we mature not only do our vision needs change, but it is of the utmost importance that your eye health is monitored. Very often in eye disease, the vision is the last thing to be impacted. Having a comprehensive eye examination allows for early detection of problems which if left unchecked could cause serious vision outcomes.

By using an Optical Coherrence Topography (OCT) machine we can go a step further. OCT scans enable us to create a 3D colour coded map of your retina. This enables the early detection of ocular disease. We are then able to refer patients for treatment in a timely manner very often before vision is affected.

We can also offer low vision appointments where we can go through various options to try and facilitate vision if required.

Case study

Mrs C ( aged 82 ) came in for a routine eye examination. She thought that her vision in her left eye had changed recently. Upon examination we were able to determine that in fact she had very little eyesight in her left eye. We did an OCT scan and immediately were able to determine the problem of subretinal fluid due to Age Related Maculopathy. This enabled a speedy referral and indeed she started treatment the very next day.
