Getting your eyes examined is an important aspect of healthcare.
A fully comprehensive eye examination with state of the art equipment ensures we not only obtain your prescription for glasses, but also assess the health of your eyes including digital retinal photography and visual field assessment for indications of eye disease including glaucoma, cataract or macular degeneration.
Any subtle changes observed will be carefully noted for future reference and we will always refer you to an ophthalmologist if there is anything found of immediate concern.
At Gates Eyewear we can do an OCT scan as required. This enables the optometrist to see each individual layer of the retina and create a 3D image using infrared light, which gives more insight into the health of your eyes and greatly helps in the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma and macular degeneration.
With Zeiss Diagnostic Equipment we can now see 200 degree retinal photos compared to our older camera which gave us 30 degrees of view. Combined with the Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer we can look for subtle defects that may be caused by glaucoma.
Having a detailed discussion about your individual visual needs is crucial to the dispensing process. This enables both the Optometrist and the Dispensing Optician to work as a team to tailor the ideal optical solution.

3. Wear them home that day
Gates Eyewear is unique in that we have an onsite lens glazing lab within our optometry practice; right next to the shop floor. So you can have your eyes tested, select your bespoke frame with your lens customised to you all in one day.
If your medical insurance policy covers optometry appointments and optical wear, then part of this charge may be covered. We can bill Southern Cross on your behalf to make it all super easy.
