Your eyecare is a priority to us at Gates Eyewear and because of this we have invested in sophisticated eye examining equipment.
Your eye examination will look at how your eyes focus and the health of them not just how well they see.
Our Optometrists will take digital photos of the back of your eyes letting us accurately record the health of the retina.
The Zeiss Matrix visual field analyzer will let us check for subtle changes that can affect the field of vision - these are often associated with the eye disease glaucoma.
Your eye examination will be performed by a University trained and qualified Optometrist who is a member of the New Zealand Association of Optometrists and who must keep up to date with Continuing Professional Education.

Utilising the latest technology from Japanese optical equipment maker Topcon coupled with a 6.1 megapixel Nikon D70 digital camera body we now have the ability to take high definition photos of the back of the eye. These photos are instantly available for us to view. They provide an invaluable accurate record of the health of the retina. Which means we can compare photos when you come in for your regular comprehensive eye exmainations and see if any changes have occured.

Our Optometrists team will ascertain what is the best and most appropriate type of contact lens for you and your eyes depending on a number of things:
How often you want to wear contacts; all the time or just occasionally for sport .
Your prescription; whether we need specialised contacts that focus better and more accurately than standard contact lenses like mulitfocal or toric lenses that correct for astigmatism.

Our technician who is one of the best in New Zealand can often make up your glasses in less than 1 hour. It depends on your prescription and the availblilty of lenses.

If your glasses break sometimes we can repair them onsite to get you through till a new pair is made. This all depends on the type of damage the frame has sustained and the material the frame is made of.

If you require a drivers license screening we can check your vision for this, often this may only take 15minutes. If your vision doesn’t pass the required limits then a more thorough full eye examination may be required.
